David Browne MBE is an Ulster unionist politician. Living in the Skegoniel area of Belfast,〔Susan McKay, ''Northern Protestants: An Unsettled People'', p.64〕 Browne was elected to Belfast City Council for the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) at the 1993 elections.〔"(Belfast City Council Elections 1993-2011 )", Northern Ireland Elections〕 He was then elected to the Northern Ireland Forum in Belfast North in 1996, but was unsuccessful when he stood for the same seat at the Northern Ireland Assembly election, 1998.〔"(North Belfast )", Northern Ireland Elections〕 Browne continued to hold his council seat.
